The WebX 2.0 was held at Bahria University on the 2^nd and 3^rd of June, 2011. It was marked as the biggest convention of bloggers and web wizards of Pakistan. A wide variety of imminent bloggers, social media evangelists and entrepreneurs shared their success stories with the attendees. The event turned out to be a huge success, attracting more than 250 participants from across the country.

The event was aimed at promoting blogging, social media and entrepreneurship in Pakistan. The convention was also aimed at promoting the upcoming digital bloggers from far flung areas of the country. Hence the objective of the event was not only to bring out the best but also to encourage the young talent and inspire them to thrive for more.

The 2 day event included worshops, seminars, game competitions and quite a number of other interactive activities.

On day 1, Professional bloggers and Social Media Gurus including Hamad Dar (koolmuzone.com), Adnan Shaffi (chiphazard.com), Saad Bassi (addictivefonts.com), Nabeel Ahmed (Xnews) and Waqas Butt (veryrite.com) conducted a workshop on basics of blogging and advanced social media tactics to better market their blogs. A classic gaming competition was also held alongside the workshop sessions as a fun side attraction to the main event. Later during the day, Saad Hamid (sizlopedia.com) chaired a blog showcase session and giveaways from Microsoft were distributed among the attendees.

On day 2, a number of prominent bloggers and entrepreneurs talked about their truly inspiring success stories. Shoaib Khalil (Microsoft), Ghaus Iftikhar Nakodari (addictive tips), Zubair Khan (tranchulas), Saad Hamid (pehlimadad.org) and number of other notable personalities conduted talks on entrepreneurship. Bloggers and social media people also shared their journey to success.

Our honorable chief guests included SVP PTCL, president PTCL, DG Pakistan Post and Director Intelligence Bureau.

In our closing ceremony shields and awards were handed over to all the speakers along with the most popular blogs of Pakistan as propakistani.pk for best local blog, Addictive Tips for best international blog and veryrite.com for fastest growing blog.

The event turned out to be a huge success and motivated a lot of upcoming bloggers of Pakistan.

WebX 2.0: Panel 2 – “Success Stories By Social Media Experts”

Social Media is the new buzz-word. There is no denial of the fact that Social Media has taken the world by storm. Pakistan is also at the forefront of the new age media and we are proud of the fact that many Pakistanis are among the top ranked social media experts!

This year, WebX 2.0 is introducing a separate section dedicated to the Social Media. Our diverse panel of “Success Stories of Social Media Experts” will share their success stories and will give the enthusiasts tips on “How To Make It Big On the Web.” Audience will get a chance to ask questions from the people who are the leaders in Social Media.

Our panelists for session “Success Stories By Social Media Experts” are:

Talha Dar, a student at Bahria University Islamabad, is one of the most famous “StumbleUpOn Guys” in Pakistan. In just a little span of time, Talha has established himself as a leading expert on world famous social bookmarking website stumbleupon.com.

Our special guest from Lahore, Ali Qayyum is not new to the new age media. Ali is truly talented blogger, a leading “stumbler” and also an expert “digger.”

A guitar player, music lover and one of the leading bloggers of the country, Hamad Dar is also social media expert. Known as “Bad Server” among the Digg community, he is regarded as one gurus of world’s leading social bookmarking website Digg.com

Adnan Shaffi, a.k.a Icon, is ranked as one the top “diggers” from Pakistan. Mr Shaffi’s skills are not restricted to social bookmarking websites or to his blogs but he also runs Islamabad-based Web hosting company.

We are really excited about it and we are sure that you are too! This year’s most anticipated gathering of web wizards is here! Yes, you got it! We are talking about WebX 2.0!

WebX 2010 was a massive success with nation’s top bloggers and social media experts not only sharing their success stories with the crowd but also sharing their skills! We also had CEOs of leading technology companies from Pakistan joining the panel of “Entrepreneurship Talk” and enthralling the audience with their “technology journey” and also engaging them in an interactive Q & A session!

This year WebX 2.0 team is pleased to bring leading bloggers from different genres. We are really excited to have top notch social media experts and new media firms on the panel!

Let’s reveal our first four panelists for the session “Success Stories by Blogger”;

Saad Hamid, an iconic blogger, who not only inspired a whole new generation of bloggers but with PehliMadad.org initiative, he skillfully used the web and social media to help thousands of flood effectees. Famous for witty humour, Saad is an entrepreneur by heart.

Aamir Atta is one of the most famous bloggers in Pakistan and his blog, propakistan.pk, probably is the best local blog. A dedicated and hardworking blogger who has inspired many, Aamir is not much verbose but his blog speaks louder than millions.

Casey Butt is a multi talented blogger. A software engineer by heart, Casey started VeryRite.com which has established itself as one of the leading blogs in technology. Mr. Butt is also co founder of Xnews (xnews.pk).

Saad Hameed Bassi is probably on of the best bloggers that we have in the country. With a witty sense of humour, Saad has established himself as not only a leading tech blogger but a social media guru. He is Editorial Head of 1stwebdesigner.com (one of the top blogs on design) and owns two very famous blogs CrispyTech.com & AddictiveFonts.com.

Faiz Dar is the youngest blogger on the panel. Faiz started blogging while at school but has shown much maturity. From crisp reviews on Pakistani music, latest video songs and trendy gossip about musicians, Faiz (with his brother Hamad Dar) lights the Pakistan’s biggest music blog (KoolMuzone.com).

Blogging has taken the world by storm. It is increasingly becoming the most popular method to express one’s thoughts and feelings on the internet, as well as an effective medium to earn a respectable living. These days, all the businesses around the world and specifically the technology industry maintains at least one official web log to announce its latest developments and interact with the consumers.

Pakistan doesn’t lag behind in this field as well. In fact, many top bloggers of the world are Pakistanis who have been featured in a lot of international media outlets. A platform was needed were bloggers, social media experts & enthusiasts could come together and share their experience. “WebX” was founded by a group of bloggers from Bahria University, Islamabad, with a purpose of creating as a platform where Pakistani bloggers across the globe could share and interact with each other. In a short period of one year, WebX has become Pakistan’s largest gathering of bloggers, social media experts & web technologists!

WebX 2010 was the first grand scale national gathering of bloggers and social media experts.
